Professor Jonathan Crook’s research concentrates on the demand and supply of credit. He works on new and more accurate ways of predicting credit risk and on the availability of credit to households. He is committed to addressing problems of household access to credit and to problems faced by lenders in assessing riskiness of borrowers and the implications for protecting depositors and banks in the event of crises. He is the founding Director of the Credit Research Centre at the University of Edinburgh, a Fellow of the Financial Institutions Center at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an External Fellow of the Centre for Finance, Credit and Macroeconomics at the University of Nottingham. He was elected Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in 2017.
