Professor Joanne Scott is a leading figure in European Union Law and World Trade Organisation (WTO) Law. She has published extensively on law and new modes of governance, environmental law and policy and on intersections between different sub-national, national and international legal orders. She earned her Bachelor of Law from the University of Aberdeen in 1987 and Master of Law from the European University Institute, Florence in 1989. Since then she has undertaken teaching positions at the universities of Kent, Queen Mary and Cambridge and visiting professorship at Columbia Law School and Harvard Law School. In 2005 Joanne took up post as Professor of European Law at University College London. Since 2017, she has taken a period of extended leave form UCL to join the European University Institute as Professor of European Law.
