Professor Joachim Loos is one of the world’s leading electron microscopists with specific expertise in the development of organic electronics. He has pioneered advanced imaging for a better understanding of how the morphology governs the functionality of polymer materials, a key factor in the development of future generations of low-cost solar cells. He received his MS in Physics from University of Hamburg and PhD from University of Dortmund. After posts at Dortmund and the Dutch Polymer Institute and Eindhoven University in the Netherlands, Joachim was appointed Professor in Solid State Physics at the University of Glasgow. He remained there until 2016 when he joined DSM as Senior Science Fellow, Materials Analysis & Characterization.
