Professor Javier Fernando Caceres FRSE

Professor Javier Caceres is Principal Investigator at the MRC Human Genetics Unit (MRC) in Edinburgh. He obtained his PhD at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina and carried out postdoctoral training in the USA. He joined the MRC in 1997 and since then his laboratory has focused on different aspects of RNA processing, including alternative splicing regulation, nonsense-mediated decay and microRNA biogenesis. He was elected as a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) in 2008.
