Professor Ibrahim Eltayeb joined Sultan Qaboos University in 1986 and has remained there since. Prior to this he spent 12 years at the University of Khartoum and was a visiting Member of Staff at Newcastle University. Ibrahim is interested in the dynamics and stability of fluid motions relevant to geophysical and industrial applications. He has made contributions to studies on fluid motions in the presence of rotation and magnetic fields, which are relevant to geodynamo and the dynamics of other planetary cores. Ibrahim was elected a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences in 1986 and has been a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society of London since 1988.
