Professor Iain James Gordon FRSE

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Tropical Environments and Societies, James Cook University.

Professor Iain Gordon is an herbivore ecologist with a career spanning research, research management and policy advice. Expertise includes ecosystems, grazing ecology, evolutionary theory, physiology and nutrient intake and he specialises in field experiments, mathematical modelling and vegetation. He has made seminal contributions to understanding how grazing herbivores interact with their environment and shape many important ecosystems from the tropics to the Arctic. After five years as Chief Executive and Director of The James Hutton Institute, Iain left this post to become Deputy Vice Chancellor at James Cook University in Australia.
