Professor Sharon Hutchinson FRSE

Professor of Epidemiology and Population Health, Glasgow Caledonian University

Sharon is a Professor of Epidemiology and Population Health at Glasgow Caledonian University. Her research spans activities including population-based surveys, data-linkage initiatives, and statistical/economic models to design and evaluate public health interventions. Working collaboratively with partners in the NHS and third sector, her research provided the key evidence to guide Scottish Government’s strategies on blood-borne viruses, placing Scotland at the forefront internationally in eliminating hepatitis C and HIV transmission. She supports national and global efforts, chairing advisory groups and as expert advisor to the World Health Organization and other international bodies. She was awarded CBE for services to public health research in 2023.
