Professor Mark Parsons FRSE
Director of EPCC and Dean of Research Computing, University of Edinburgh
Professor Mark Parsons is the Director of EPCC at the University of Edinburgh and a leading figure in global supercomputing. He joined EPCC in 1994 as a software developer following a PhD at CERN. For many years he was EPCC’s Commercial Director and became EPCC Director in 2015.
A key architect of the UK’s digital infrastructure, Parsons currently leads the UK’s £750 million Next National Supercomputer project. His career is defined by bridging the gap between academia and industry, notably through the Fortissimo projects in the EU. Under his leadership, EPCC was recently designated the UK’s first National Supercomputing Centre.
