Professor Mahesh Marina FRSE

Personal Chair of Networked Systems, University of Edinburgh

Professor Marina earned a PhD in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and completed a two-year postdoctoral position at UCLA before joining the University of Edinburgh. His research focuses on networked systems, particularly wireless networks and mobile/edge systems. He has co-authored more than 120 peer-reviewed publications, many in leading venues. His recent work has advanced software-centric mobile networking and AI for networking, including early applications of generative AI in this field. Earlier, he led research on the Tegola rural broadband project, bringing Internet connectivity to remote Scottish communities. His contributions have received several awards, and he is an IEEE Fellow and ACM Distinguished Member.
