Kei Sakamoto is Vice Executive Director and Professor at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, University of Copenhagen. He previously served as Head of the Metabolic Health Department at the Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences in Lausanne and as Programme Leader at the MRC Protein Phosphorylation Unit in Dundee. His research elucidates molecular signaling networks that regulate cellular and whole-body energy homeostasis to sustain cardiometabolic health. His laboratory seeks to identify and validate molecular targets and therapeutic candidates—including small molecules, peptides, and natural bioactives—for the prevention and treatment of cardiometabolic disease.
