Professor Dr Alison Hulme FRSE

Professor of Synthesis and Chemical Biology, University of Edinburgh

Professor Alison Hulme’s research integrates synthetic chemistry and chemical biology to provide molecular level insight to challenges in biology and medicine. She obtained her BA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge in 1989 and stayed there to complete her PhD in Organic Synthesis in 1992. She joined the University of Edinburgh as a lecturer in 1995 and was promoted to professor in 2017. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and has worked closely with them on a range of diversity issues. She served as President of the Organic Division of the RSC from 2016-19.
