Professor Colva Roney-Dougal FRSE
Professor of Pure Mathematics, University of St Andrews
Colva Roney-Dougal is Professor of Pure Mathematics at the University of St Andrews. Her research centres on group theory, which is the mathematical study of symmetry, with connections to combinatorics (the mathematics of counting) and to computer science. Colva studied at St Andrews and Queen Mary University of London, and then worked at the University of Sydney, before returning to St Andrews.
In addition to her academic work, Colva likes explaining mathematics to the public: she has appeared many times on national radio, given important public lectures and written popular articles.
