Professor Amy Pedersen FRSE

Professor of Disease Ecology, University of Edinburgh

Professor Pedersen is a disease ecologist who addresses critical questions about host-parasite interactions, including how to improve host health and develop effective disease control strategies. She has trained over 250 scientists, from undergraduates to independent research fellows, to use both empirical and analytical methodologies to study host-parasite interactions as they naturally occur – embedded in their natural ecological complexity. One of Pedersen’s distinctive achievements is the development of a pioneering lab-to-wild wood mouse model to address key questions about infectious disease, wildlife ecology, and wild immunology more holistically. Pedersen was Royal Society International fellow (2006-9), a CIEE Wellcome Trust fellow (2009-13), and a Chancellors Fellow (2013-18).
