Dr Christopher Breward FRSE

Director, National Museums Scotland

Christopher Breward is Director of National Museums Scotland. Prior to this, he was Director of Collection and Research at the National Galleries of Scotland, Principal of Edinburgh College of Art and has worked at the Victoria and Albert Museum London, the Royal College of Art and the University of the Arts London. Educated at the Courtauld Institute and the Royal College of Art, Christopher has published and curated widely on the histories of art, fashion and urban cultures. He has served on the Boards of National Museums Scotland, the Fruitmarket Gallery, Hospitalfield Arts, the Edinburgh Art Festival, and on the Advisory Committee of the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art. Christopher is currently Chair of the Association for Art History (UK) and a Governor of the Pasold Foundation.
