Dame Seona Reid FRSE
Vice Chair, Wasps Artist Studios
Dame Seona Reid is an arts administrator whose previous roles include Director of Scottish Arts Council (1990 – 1999) and Director of Glasgow School of Art (1999 – 2013). She now has a portfolio of non-executive roles including Vice Chair of Wasps Artist Studios, trustee of Scottish Ensemble and of the Edinburgh International Cultural Summit Foundation. She also serves as a Panel Member in the Children’s Hearing System. Recently she chaired the British Council Scotland Advisory Committee, Cove Park Artist Residency Centre, National Theatre of Scotland, was Deputy Chair of the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Scotland’s Commissioner on the UK-US Fulbright Commission and a Trustee of Tate. Seona’s interests include arts, heritage, education, public and third sector policy. She is also an advocate for equality and diversity, particularly relating to gender and sexual orientation. She became a Dame in the 2014 New Year Honours for services to the Creative Industries.

The ongoing health crisis has had an uneven, detrimental impact across the board in the culture sector. Emergency funding provided by the Scottish Government has helped cultural organisations survive during the last two years, however, cultural organisations continue to operate with limited reserves and ongoing funding support from the Government is needed to ensure resilience in the sector.
