Professor Eric McInness is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Manchester. He is an expert in electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy – also known as electron spin resonance (ESR) – and related methods, and their application to the characterisation of inorganic materials. These methods have been applied widely to problems in p-, d- and f-block chemistry. This work was recognised by the Chemistry Medal of International EPR Society in 2015. He is currently Chair of the Royal Society of Chemistry ESR Group and co-Director of the EPSRC UK National EPR Facility.
