Dr Richard Laming is a technology entrepreneur whose career has spanned academia and industry. He founded two companies in Scotland, Kymata Ltd and Oligon Ltd, which were both successfully acquired, and he went on to take leadership roles in both cases. They employ 300 staff in Scotland. Richard is engaged with early stage technology companies, either by mentoring, consultancy or serving as Director/advisor with Netthings Ltd and Optoscribe Ltd. He holds a number of technology awards including the Marconi International Fellowship, Young Scientist of the Year Award, the IEE Measurement Prize and the Royal Academy of Engineering Silver Medal. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
