Dr Douglas Haig McIntosh OBE FRSE FRMS
Douglas Haig McIntosh, known to many of his friends simply as Mac, died on 13 March 1993.
He was born in Leven, Fife, into a large family of seven boys and two girls. His academic abilities were evident from an early stage, doing well at school and going on to St Andrews University, where he obtained an MA and the top first of his year in Physics. On leaving university at the start of World War II, he joined the Meteorological Office, beginning a life-long interest in the fascinations of the atmosphere.
