Baroness Helena Kennedy of The Shaws

Baroness Helena Kennedy is one of the UK’s most distinguished lawyers with over 40 years’ experience. She has championed law reform for women, especially in relation to sexual and domestic violence, and her campaigning has brought about significant change on equal opportunities within the legal profession. She became a member of the House of Lords in 1997 and is a former chair of the Human Genetics Commission which advises her Majesty’s Government on ethical, social and legal issues arising from developments in genetic science. Helena served as Principal of Mansfield College, University of Oxford from 2011 to 2018 and is now Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam University. She is an Honorary Fellow of the British Academy.
