Professor Alistair George Liam Borthwick FREng FRSE

Professor Alistair Borthwick has almost 40 years’ engineering experience and his research interests include fluvial hydraulics, flood risk management, coastal and offshore engineering, and tidal power resource assessment. He helped design the Hutton Tension Leg Platform, which won the Queen’s Award for Technological Achievement in 1984. Since 1998, Alistair has collaborated with Peking University on all material fluxes in large rivers and water and wastewater treatment technologies. He is the Founding Director of the SFI Research Centre for Marine Renewable Energy Ireland.
