Professor Alexandra Shepard FRSE

Professor of Gender History, University of Glasgow.

Professor Alexandra Shepard is a historian of early-modern Britain, contributing research on gender inequality, social inequality and the relationship between women’s work and economic development. She co-founded the Centre for Gender History at the University of Glasgow and leads an international network on gender and work in early-modern Europe. Alexandra is currently researching a project on childcare, family and economy in Britain from 1660 to 1815, and developing a multi-disciplinary project on ‘care justice’ in local and global contexts.
