International Development Strategy: Call for Evidence

The International Committee of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE), Scotland’s National Academy welcomes the opportunity to respond to the UK Government Call for Evidence on the International Development Strategy (The Strategy).

In early September, the Committee provided feedback to the UK Government’s call for evidence regarding the International Development Strategy. The response aims to lay out the Government’s approach to international development for the upcoming decade, and identifies the following priority areas:

  • Climate and biodiversity
  • Global health security
  • Open societies and conflict resolution
  • Girls’ education
  • Humanitarian preparedness and response
  • Science and technology
  • Trade and economic development

The respondents were asked to answer six questions, divided according to the following themes: impact, UK leadership and partnerships.

The attached paper provides a summary of the aggregated feedback given by the Committee to these consultation questions.
