Health and wellbeing, community of interest

Established in 2023 to address Scotland’s health inequalities.

Definition

A community of interest is a member-led group that brings people together to explore topics within the RSE’s remit not already covered by a standing committee or another community of interest.

Open to all interested Fellows and YAS members, these groups may also invite contributions from non-members.

About

Each community of interest creates space for discussion, collaboration, and the development of proposals for future activities. They provide a forum to:

  • explore emerging issues and opportunities,
  • connect people with shared expertise and perspectives,
  • participate in the development of workstream proposals and initiatives.
  • engage in key policy consultations and responses.

The group focuses on four core themes: health inequalities across socio-demographic groups (e.g., gender, life course, ACEs), place-based and community-driven health interventions, the use of data and technology in health (including AI), healthcare systems, service delivery, policy, and funding.

Participation is open and voluntary. The membership is ever-evolving to ensure that discussion remains relevant, dynamic, and impactful.
