Environment, community of interest
Established in 2023 to bring members together on climate, biodiversity, and Scotland’s wider environmental challenges.
Definition
A community of interest is a member-led group that brings people together to explore topics within the RSE’s remit not already covered by a standing committee or another community of interest.
Open to all interested Fellows and YAS members, these groups may also invite contributions from non-members.
About
The group reflects the RSE’s strategic commitment to advancing knowledge that improves society’s wellbeing, safeguards Scotland’s natural environment, and strengthens our global contribution.
Its scope is broad: from tackling the twin crises of climate change and biodiversity loss, to exploring links between the environment, energy, health, agriculture, and the marine ecosystem. The community also works to shape the RSE’s position on key issues, contribute to consultations, and propose events and activities that inform public debate.
Participation is open and voluntary. The membership is ever-evolving to ensure that discussion remains relevant, dynamic, and impactful.
